An Afternoon at the Movies
Many of the best known movie themes are based on works from the classical repertoire. Sit back and enjoy an afternoon of works featured in, or composed for, the movies.
Popular piano virtuoso Hannah Shin will be soloist in the Andante movement from Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 (used in Elvira Madigan) and in George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue used in The Great Gatsby. The program also features an excerpt from Babe, the last section of the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony, with Colin Prohasky on organ. You are sure to also recognise the tunes from many other well-know film scores.
